Re Creo at The Pier - San Clemente
A profound, serene joy and the air electric, full of hope and promise for what became one of the most idyllic Southern California evenings in our three years of doing supper clubs. Our venue: “The Lot” at the Sea Horse resort, a tiered garden overlooking the San Clemente pier and (lucky us!) our dining room for this mild, late-summer evening of Peruvian-Italian inspired dishes.
Our favorite part of putting together a Re Creo evening is our guests. They are the audience for whom we create the food, the ambiance, the cocktails, and the seamless flow of a one-of-a-kind, magical dinner where they can get swept up in the moment.
San Clemente has a special place in our hearts. We grew up thousands of miles from what we saw in the movies as a “California beach”. The beach movies of our childhood all featured the surfing, the Spanish revival architecture, the bonfires, the beach-side parties.
The promise that there is nothing in the world that can match the feeling of watching the sun set after spending all day at the beach, literally watching the sun dip into the ocean and turn into night on a day so satisfyingly seized.
The myth of the California beach took hold of our minds and there was no beach in the world that could ever live up to it -- until San Clemente!
The first time we saw the San Clemente pier, it looked like the movies, and the bonfires smelled like the endless summers we had envisioned in our childhood.
